SUPERGRASS - IN IT FOR THE MONEY. DAY 13

SUPERGRASS - IN IT FOR THE MONEY
Supergrass reminds me of shag pile carpet and musty smells, because that’s what my old lounge-room was like. This was long before we discovered that Supergrass drummer Danny Goffey married Pearl Lowe who had a daughter called Daisy by Gavin Rossdale and nobody worked it out until Gwen Stefani saw said daughter in a fashion show and remarked that she looked a lot like her husband, good old Gav. A few DNA swabs later and Gwen Stefani is the worlds hottest step mother.

Supergrass hit their stride post the peak of feuding britpop bands of oasis/blur but before the brit rock reconnaissance started by the arctic monkeys. They are fuzzier and grittier than the standard polished british fare of the same time This album is good..although I usually skipped half the tracks. It uses that warped noise machine thing that uses waves and hands to make ghostly sounds. I saw Supergrass at one of the many Big Day Out’s I attended with people I didn’t really know or like or want to go to a music festival with. Until a few years ago I was repeatedly in those situations. Supergrass were great but some punters took the name too literally and maybe got some supergrass of their own on...I can’t stand that shit when I’m out. I avoid the dirty barefoot UDL drinking grubbies who instead of watching any bands, prefer to sit in circles on the ground in the busiest of thoroughfares staring down anyone who happens to walk by.
You know those albums where you’d be hard pressed to know any of the words when the CD isn't playing and even when it is its you can just make out the chorus..In it for the money is one of those for me.
BEST TRACKS:
Richard III
Sun Hits the Sky
